The most colorful city in the world—in black and white
New York City is one of the most colorful places in the world. But all of that color is often superfluous. It can even pull our attention away from the true significance of the things we're seeing every day. What would the city look like stripped of color? I walked around one Saturday and shot a series of photos entirely in black and white, focused on seeing the unseen and noticing the often unnoticed. No yellow cabs, no swarms of people, no Times Square. The images tell a deeper story when viewed in this way. Stark, bare—they force you to draw meaning, whether it be your own or the meaning I intended.
