Virginia Education Association (VEA) is more than just a professional association; they’re the Commonwealth’s union for teachers and educational support professionals.
I worked with Research and Communications colleagues to reposition and rebrand VEA so that potential members will understand what VEA can do for them as a union. VEA has always delivered for its members, from getting a 5 percent pay raise, on average, for educators in the latest state budget, to winning more planning time and scaling back standardized testing. It’s a fraction of what educators deserve, but it’s a start — and now that collective bargaining is legal in Virginia, they have an even more powerful voice.
